Tezzus Returns with THE RESURRECTION
Rising Atlanta artist Tezzus has officially released THE RESURRECTION, an 8-track EP that pays tribute to some of the artists who inspired him while showcasing his growth as one of YSL’s most promising underground talents. After meeting Tezzus at Rolling Loud Orlando earlier this year, I was curious to see where he’d go next—and THE RESURRECTION might be his strongest release since signing with YSL (Young Stoner Life Records).
Released on June 8, the project arrives just weeks after the rapper’s collaborative tape UY SCUTI BØYZ and continues his ascent as one of the more intriguing artists emerging from the YSL camp.

The concept behind the EP is unique. Rather than simply referencing his influences lyrically, Tezzus builds songs around samples and inspirations from artists whose names appear in the track titles.
A Creative Tribute To Influential Artists
One of the strongest aspects of THE RESURRECTION is its dedication to honoring rap and pop culture influences while still maintaining Tezzus’ own identity.
Tracks like “Aubrey” pull inspiration from Drake, while “Jeffrey Williams” references King Slime himself, also known as Young Thug, the artist whose label has helped elevate Tezzus to a larger audience. Meanwhile, “Ye” draws from Kanye West-inspired sounds and themes. The project’s sample heavy production gives each track its own personality without feeling disconnected from the overall vision.
Instead of coming across as imitation, the references feel more like a celebration of the music that helped shape Tezzus’ artistic direction. The album art itself pays homage to Lil Wayne’s classic Dedication mixtape series and Tezzus energetically pays tribute in his own way.
THE RESURRECTION Review
THE RESURRECTION succeeds because it doesn’t overstay its welcome. Across eight tracks, Tezzus delivers a concise project that showcases his versatility while maintaining the dark, energetic style that fans have come to expect.
Production plays a major role here. The beats are packed with recognizable samples yet still feel modern and aggressive. Songs like “Jeffrey Williams” and “Ye” stand out thanks to their memorable production choices and confident performances.
For listeners who felt his recent collaborative work lacked a clear identity, THE RESURRECTION feels more focused. The project places Tezzus at the center and allows his personality to drive the experience from beginning to end.
With strong production, a creative concept, and memorable performances throughout, THE RESURRECTION stands as another solid step forward in what has already been a busy year for the Atlanta artist. Fans of YSL, experimental trap, and the new wave of underground rap should definitely give this project a listen.

Having met Tezzus at Rolling Loud Orlando earlier this year while doing media, it’s been interesting to watch his growth firsthand. The energy he brings in person translates directly into this project, which feels focused, confident, and determined to remind listeners why so many underground rap fans have been paying attention.
Despite the large entourage and commotion, Tezzus took the time to chop it up with The Kitchen and briefly talked about his excitement for new Øway projects. He thanked me for catching his set that Rolling Loud weekend and even hugged me after telling him his outfit was fire, so in our book Tezzus is a real one and we will be rooting for him.
