2slimey Releases New Album Totalbass

Underground rap continues to move at full speed, and 2slimey is making sure he stays at the front of the conversation. Today, the fast rising artist officially released his brand-new EP, Totalbass, across all major streaming platforms. The six-track project arrives just months after his breakout run that included his debut performance at Rolling Loud Orlando and continued momentum following More Anxiety.

Here at The Kitchen, we had the opportunity to interview 2Slimey backstage during Rolling Loud Orlando, where he spoke about his rapid rise, his pre-show ritual, and what his favorite snacks for tour are. Seeing Totalbass finally arrive makes that conversation even more exciting, as listeners can now hear the next chapter in his evolution.

Totalbass is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, and other major streaming platforms. Whether you’ve been following 2Slimey since High Anxiety or discovered him through his Rolling Loud performance, this latest release is another step forward in his rapidly growing catalog.

Our standout track from the new project is Bentley & Lambs which features some of 2slimey’s clearest vocals over a subdued instrumental that is reminiscent of Playboi Carti’s earliest Whole Lotta Red leaks.

2Slimey Pays Homage to Michael Jackson

The Totalbass era has featured themes of Michael Jackson and his influence, from 2slimey’s Summer Smash outfit to the album cover which is an obvious nod to Jackson’s Dangerous album.  Whether his fans liken his music to Jackson’s or claim 2slimey as the King of Mexico, he has proven to be in touch with the culture and the effort behind his run has not gone unnoticed.  While many underground contemporaries are focused on remaining mysterious, 2Slimey has connected with his fans by being authentic and true to himself.

2Slimey – Totalbass

Rating: 4.1/5

The chaotic beat selection of Totalbass is consistent with 2Slimey’s signature sound of rage fueled disorganized noise, but there is improvement with this project.  Track 4’s Bentley & Lamb’s is a notable standout for me and shows a deviation from the standard rage filled atmosphere surrounding his music, leading me to believe we will hear a banger as he continues to fine tune his sound.  Share your opinion on the new 2Slimey Totalbass project in the comments!
