Kanye West Shows Support for Lil Durk

Ye was spotted arriving at the Los Angeles courthouse on Thursday as Lil Durk’s federal murder for hire trial continues.

The appearance immediately caught attention given Ye and Durk’s shared Chicago roots and history within the rap community.  Ye would also pose with OTF member Doodie Lo, a member of Durk’s rap group, to support the artist by holding up a “FREE DURK” shirt.

According to footage from the courthouse, Ye arrived wearing sunglasses and a black outfit with his face partially covered. His appearance comes as Durk faces federal charges connected to an alleged 2022 murder for hire plot targeting rapper Quando Rondo.

Ye’s visit adds another major name from the hip-hop world to the list of people publicly showing support for Durk during the trial.

What Is Lil Durk on Trial For?

Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, is currently facing a federal murder for hire case in Los Angeles.

Prosecutors allege that Durk orchestrated a plot targeting Georgia rapper Quando Rondo following the 2020 killing of King Von. In the alleged 2022 attack, the shooters missed Rondo but killed his cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson.

Durk has maintained his innocence.

During opening statements, prosecutors portrayed Durk as seeking revenge for King Von’s death, while his defense argued that former associate Kavon “Cuz” Grant was responsible for organizing the operation and that the government does not have sufficient evidence tying Durk to the alleged plot.

The trial officially began in Los Angeles on August 24.

Machine Gun Kelly Also Showed Up to Support Durk

Ye isn’t the only major artist to show support for Lil Durk during the trial.

Machine Gun Kelly attended the opening day of the proceedings on August 24, watching from an overflow room at the downtown Los Angeles courthouse.

After his appearance became public, MGK explained on X (formerly Twitter) why he decided to attend.

“this been my bro for a decade,” MGK wrote, explaining that Durk personally asked him to come support him. He added that he would be there “no question” and ended the message with “free durk.”

G Herbo, Dreezy, Doodie Lo and Durk’s father have also been spotted showing support around the beginning of the trial.

As the trial continues, more developments are expected from the Los Angeles federal courtroom.
